Pick health coverage on the whole year's cost, not the premium

Independent, expert-reviewed guides to health plans, HSAs, open enrollment and small-group benefits — every figure modelled, dated and sourced to the IRS and CMS.

Health coverage is chosen once a year, in a hurry, from a grid of numbers that hides the one figure that matters. Most people compare premiums, pick the middle option, and never learn that a different plan would have cost them a thousand dollars less for exactly the same care.

BenefitWell exists to do that arithmetic out loud. We add premium to expected out-of-pocket spending across realistic usage levels, we show where plans cross over, and we date and source every limit and deadline to the IRS, CMS or the Department of Labor.

We are not a broker or an insurer. We cannot quote you a premium or confirm your doctor is in network — and we will say plainly when the cheapest-looking plan is the expensive one.
